In an effort to curb incoming spam email, all accounts will have SpamAssassin enabled by default. You can configure the score threshold under your hosting control panel. The default score is 5, while the score of 3 is a bit more aggressive.

Also, we will be using spamhaus.org and spamcop.net RBLs to check related incoming and outgoing mail as well.

You may also encourage your individual users to activate and use BoxTrapper via their webmail options page. BoxTrapper requires all users to respond "authenticate" themselves as a real person so their message will get through to you.

We hope that this will solve most issues with incoming spam.

UPDATE: It is realized that some email accounts on the server are getting bombarded with what appears to be bounce spam. Do not worry. The originating emails did not come from this server nor have your accounts been hacked in anyway. Over the last few weeks spammers have been increasing the number of mails being sent and this is a result of their efforts.

Spammers often create emails on a compromised host (another server, not any of ours) and randomly generate or use a harvested email address as their return receipt... which in some cases, may be your email address. When the target address is unable to receive the spam email, it gets returned. In some cases, it gets returned to your inbox looking like you sent an email the got rejected.

We are doing everything we can to try to curb these types of emails. Unfortunately, the only real way to completely block messages of this type is to add account/user level filters to a web hosting account by the customer.

If you need assistance setting up an account or user level filter, please feel free to post in our forums with your question(s) or send an email to support@mystfire.com.
